Make Your Own Cookbook

I love 'make your own' cookbooks! Recipe note cards, scraps of handwritten recipes, or magazine clipped recipes all can be so well organized in a blank cookbook that you fill with your favorites. There are several 'such cookbooks' in my personal collection. My first one was one I made for Foods 101 class in college. To this day, I go to that cookbook for favorite recipes I collected from family and friends. Recently I was visiting a nice little thrift shop in the community where I grew up and attended school through college years. I was browsing through the books and found this pretty little cookbook for fifty cents. It's cover is intact and unblemished and most of the pages inside are still blank. Making it even more special, some of the pages are not blank! That's even better, as they contain favorite recipes that others treasured and found interesting.

  1. Neat cookbook, LaDonna! You should see my haphazard recipes. I have some that are neatly on cards & filed away & a HUGE pile of others that I've cut out & haven't organized yet. Maybe one of these days, I'll get to it. I have to go through and hunt to find one now.

    I need a book!

  2. I so enjoy browsing through old cookbooks. It's always so interesting to see what was in vogue to cook at that time.

I have been meaning to post about old cookbooks. Thank you for the reminder.

    Enjoy that old treasure.

  3. What a serendipitous God moment for that book to come into your hands. Gives me goosebumps. Did your home ec. teacher know you followed in her footsteps?
