Hunger for Spring

Like thirsting flowers awaiting rain,
My heart cries out for Spring again.
Once more to feel the softening air,
Caressing, tender, everywhere.
For fertile earth beneath my feet
Nor carpeted by the Winter's sleet,
Now confined by wintery blast,
Comes forth God's handiwork at last!
