To the Meadows Took My Way

While ripening corn grew thick and deep,

And here and there men stood to reap,
One morn I put my heart to sleep,
And to the meadows took my way,
The goldfinch on a thistle-heat
Stood scattering seedlets as she fed,
The wrens their pretty gossip spread,
Or joined a random roundelay."

Jean Ingelow

  1. That picture reminds us of one of our dad's favorite poems..."Two roads diverge in a yellow wood and I, I took the one least traveled by....and that has made all the difference."
