"If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it: Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
William Morris was a wise man..I believe his quote and have held it close to my heart for the better part of 15 years now. Reading it on your blog is a lovely reminder.
Last Friday, my mother and I visited the Sarah Orne Jewett house in South Berwick, ME where there were a number of William Morris carpets and wallpapers...all original--albeit in fragile condition having been well-worn over the hundred+ years they've been around. Some were quite amazing, including the hallway that had giant multi-colored flowers all over, each color placed by hand with a separate wood block.
Thank you for commenting on my blog post. I am always happy to hear from blog readers. Your words encourage and inspire me. I am glad you stopped by to share conversation, recipes, ideas, and thoughts on creating a welcoming home.
Sure - but maybe not easy to realice ;-)
