Children enjoying the atmosphere and chilly lavender lemonade!

  1. Lavender lemonade...that must be so deeee-liscious!

When my oldest was a preschooler we had a Hungarian girl stay with us for the summer (her parents met me through a friend and sent their daughter the following year to work on her English)

Well, while Anna was staying with me we went to visit some friends of her parents. They had a beautiful home, surrounded by gardens, a typical old New England cape, sided in cedar I believe. In their dark living room sat a huge old hand hewn wooden bowl and it was filled to heaping with dried lavender flowers.

As I was a visitor, with my young daughter towing along I was nervous about behavior...worried about messing up their antique home...that looked pretty "childless".

The kind woman offered the bowl to my Bella to play with...she said you could never touch lavender too much, it would just continue to give off it's scent and couldn't be abused. Though I never saw that woman again, the impression she made on me that day has stayed with me, I too am a lover of lavender.

    thanks for sharing!
