Salt and Pepper
Salt and pepper shakers are fun to collect in pairs. It must be because they come in sets of two and, like twins, can be dressed accordingly. This is especially true with vintage shakers. My grandmother collected salt and pepper shakers from the 1940's and 1950's. Pairs of tropical fish, lighthouses, or a hen and rooster would sit on her window sill, creating a cheerful atmosphere and colorful home. Times have changed. Shakers still come in pairs, but are either modern and plain, or Victorian styles of identical, floral design. I love the new, but miss the old. That's the way life is. Change is inevitable. And then there's the salt and pepper. Is your life salted with flavor and peppered with joy? Salt. Pepper. Flavor and Joy.
Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.
