How to Grow and Use the Fragrant Herb

This book, Lavender - How to Grow and Use the Fragrant Herb, is enjoyable to read and provides much inspiration for both gardening with this herb and creating lavender crafts and culinary treats in the kitchen. The author discusses common varieties of lavender and tells some about it's history and use. A good section of the middle of the book is about growing and harvesting this fragrant herb. And then the fun part! The last chapters are filled with pictures and instructions for making lavender projects: lavender bundles, wreathes, and dried floral arrangements. There are even instructions for making a beautiful lavender lady who sits in a cutting garden and is much to pretty to scare away any critters like a scarecrow would! The book ends with terrific lavender recipes and instructions for making crystallized lavender for decoration. This is a pleasant and fun book to spend a few hours with during a hot summer afternoon.

This book is authored by Ellen Spector Platt.
