Fire Protection

Last summer there were several major forest fires not far from our mountain property. Brent learned from a friend who's a fire chief, that cutting the lower branches off of trees in the forest will protect the woods and buildings in the path of a fire. Fire sweeps along the forest floor, burning everything it comes in contact with. Without the dry, lower branches, the fire is less likely to take hold of trees and will move on at a fast pace along the forest floor without doing so much damage. Brent spent the entire day with his chainsaws, cutting tree branches and opening up the woods around the cabin.
