"The first to come! . . . The golden crocus, boldly thrusting up --- as if to catch and hold the sunlight in its painted cup --- The first ones out to shout a salutation of good cheer --- making haste to show themselves before the rest appear. For soon will come the other members of the family --- robed in deepest purple, palest mauve and ivory --- and dazzled by their beauty we'll forget to say goodbye --- to the first that took the risk, and braved the wintry sky."

Such bright and cheerful flowers~a sweet sign that spring is finally coming!
ReplyDeleteI knew of a patch like the ones on the right where I used to live. They were always the first out of the ground, in a bed of leaves, and so delightful!
ReplyDeleteHi La Tea Dah! Just saw a crocus today and I nearly shouted for joy. Brave little flowers, aren't they? Susan
ReplyDeleteI adore a cheery yellow and this crocus and buttercup certainly qualify. I have some very pale, gray looking daffodil leaves up through the ground. They do amaze me because there's still so much snow.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful the bright yellow is...it is like drops of sunshine coming from the ground. I am sooooooo ready for Spring. Blessing!
ReplyDeleteSpring is certainly on its way, i love spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteI have been fascinated that the yellow comes first and the the purple. We have a mixture on our lawn and I keep thinking they should all bloom at the same time, but they don't.
