White Linens

Do you sometimes find yourself doing things that are productive, but not absolutely necessary, simply because they bring you joy? Washing and hanging white linens is something that does that for me. Crisp, white, clean, and fresh; table clothes, pillow cases, and guest towels blow in the breeze, absorbing the fragrance of the late spring day. Handwork done by others, embroidery, crochet, or applique embellish each piece. They represent hours of love meant to bless those whom these will pieces serve. Whites are my favorites. Years ago I gave away all the colored, printed sets of sheets and now use plain-white, crisp cotton instead. It's a perfect way to use sets of embroidered pillow cases --- and now they always match the sheets!

Have a refreshing, joyful 'white linen' day!

  1. I love white linen, too. The older, the better! There is something so beautiful about the handiwork on these beauties. Thanks for sharing yours with us today. ~Adrienne~

  2. I love the handwork, but I'm still loving rich colors, too. Maybe it's because I'm a...well, a wee bit messy...

  3. White linens are exactly what make my heart sing. I got rid of my flowers sheets too. Love, love the old pillowcases with the white sheets.

  4. White Linens indeed! I am not alone and strange after all. I too have banned all flowered, patterned linens from my closets.
there is nothing so luxurious as all white towels too-one of the simplest ways to experience a bit of that spa feel& such impressive wedding shower gifts-stack them nicely and tie with great ribbon and tuck in a few white votives or a natural bouquet of Eucalyptus and hydrangea from the yard..wait one more thing..add your own tag-a large one of those manilla color used for price tags.[forget the wrapping paper] She'll remember you!

  5. How interesting that there are others out there who still love the old-fashioned, plain and boring --- white sheets! Awww, they feel so luxurious and so many pretty things can be done with them! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Deb, it's alright that you love a bit of color. And it's alright if you are a wee bit messy. Messy people are the most interesting of all 'cause generally they are super creative! Thanks for your comment.

  7. I just love my white linens too! Only have white sheets and have heaps of lovely linens. I love to wash them then starch my cloths and covers to a crisp smooth look. Wonder if anyone has a good starch recipe to make at home.. save buying the commercial starches. Marilyn
