Listening to this Stillness

I am sitting in the blue chair
listening to this stillness.

The only sound the occasional gurgle of tea
coming out of the pot and into the cup.

How can this be?
Such calm, such peace, such solitude
in this world of woe.

Verse: 'The Sixth of January' by David Budbill

  1. What a lovely post. I'm reading Anne Morrow Lindbergh's Gift from the Sea and learning a new sense of serenity.

  3. Beautiful tea cup. I wonder the same thing often in my backyard. . it's so easy to block the world.

  4. And it's hard to not feel guilty, when finding this stillness...

I read in a blog once... She asked the question; "Can I play my instrument, knowing others can not?" 'Playing her Instrument' was in place of 'feeling joy.'

Can we take joy, knowing others can not? A deep, deep question...

What a beautiful tea cup! We are able to find solitude by blocking out what is not needed.

    Thank you for sharing...
