Home is a Haven

Like many, I enjoy reading the books of Alexandra Stoddard. This morning while reading Living a Beautiful Life I came across these thoughts I wish to share:

"Rituals of solitude are essential to all artists. In a studio, a place off limits to others, the artist begins to create his own reality --- whether by writing a scene or painting a picture or creating a symphony. You are an artist too, creating living art every day."

What will you create today? Living art; creating comfortable and pleasing surroundings for those you love. Home is a haven.

  1. What a beautiful post. I love the Alexandra quote. Food for thought!

Today I will create peace and order in a home that has been a haven and quick stopping-off-place for the past days. And a simple but delicious meal for my sweetheart at the end of a long day.

I love that! Today I am trying a new recipe so I guess that's a form of creating. Please stop by my blog. I have something for you. I truly enjoy your blog.

  3. I love Alexandra's books. :)

I'm baking today and all week for our Graduation Open House on Saturday. So today I am "creating" various kinds of cookies and trying to keep from eating (many) of them.

  4. I am creating a new lavender and perinnial garden today. The plants are in and my husband is putting a path through it. There is a bench going in this evening. It's been a wonderful day to be outside digging in the dirt!!
Thank you for talking about Living Art!!

  5. You just reminded me that I have Alexandra Stoddard's Feeling at Home in my summer TBR pile. I planned to read a little bit between some novels and nonfiction, but have forgotten to pull it out. Thanks for the reminder!

BTW, congrats to Rylan - on several counts it seems, including graduation. :)
