A Medley of Solitude and Tea

A Definition
Noun 1. afternoon tea - a light midafternoon meal of tea and sandwiches or cakes; "an Englishman would interrupt a war to have his afternoon tea".

There were no cakes or sandwiches.  Date Nut Cookies and cherries equaled a delicious and acceptable substitute.  Did you know that the name cookie is derived from the Dutch word koekje (or koekie) which means little cake?  The word cookie arrived in the English language through the Dutch in North America.

A toast to the grace of the pot, ready at all times to give up its emptiness for the tea.
~ Attributed to the Minister of Leaves

The tea was a pot of Alishan High Mountain Oolong, a gift from friend Marilyn, who just returned from a trip to Taiwan.  She enjoyed visiting tea plantations there, spent some time harvesting tea, and even stayed at a plantation for a spell.  The tea was perfect in every way!  Thank you, Marilyn!
