God Bless America

The 4th of July is a holiday that Americans celebrate with much vigor.  There's nothing like love of country, hot weather, fireworks, picnics, and time with family and friends!  Together they create celebration and patriotism!  No matter how you spent your holiday week-end, I hope it was exactly as you wished it to be!  Relaxed, happy, celebratory, and inspiring!

As you can see from the photo montage, our holiday week-end was quiet and relaxing. Except for our neighbors whose cabin is a mile down the road, the mountain was very quiet. It seems that most people preferred the gatherings in the city park or fireworks at the river instead of making a trek up the mountain.  The forest exuded peacefulness and quiet.  The summer nights were light with stars and moonbeams.  Birds cheerfully sang from their perches on the tree-tops.  A mother black bear and her tiny cinnamon cubs entertained us as they slowly ambled along the ridge next to ours.  As we sipped our tea and ate our breakfast, we enjoyed watching their progress.  Mother bear would stop to dig for ants or bugs and then appear to need a nap.  As she rested and pretended to ignore the twins, they scampered around here, busy as can be!  The man of the mountain, my husband, continued with his usual "to do" list.  He mowed, trimmed, and cut up trees that had fallen in inopportune places.  Grandpa came to visit and helped Brent clear the trail to the springs. Fresh bear paw prints were outlined at springs edge, and I wondered if maybe it was mother bear and twins who had been there.  A careful watch was kept so that we would not interfere with that busy mother and her two!

We missed the fireworks in town, but the journey home was on country roads.  We passed through small towns where neighbors were sharing fireworks with one another, and we saw four lovely displays as we passed from town to town.  As we neared home, we could see the lights of the city and had a perfect view of the magnificent shows happening there.  

This holiday can not pass by without reflecting upon thoughts of thankfulness for freedom and the many blessings that this great nation affords.  God bless 
America.

  2. If that doesn't sound like enjoying the pursuit of happiness or closer yet, having happiness land on you kerplunk, I don't know what does. I enjoyed the words and all the descriptions as much as the wonderful collage. I saw no fireworks yesterday, though I did fall asleep to the sounds of firecrackers.
