September Teacup

"The breezes taste

Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze."

  2. Back to school time always tells me it must be Autumn. Our weather does not tell me that this week, as it is warm.

  3. I just love this spotted gray enamelware. I've collected the teacups whenever I find them. They are not common and usually well-worn. But in the last 20 years, I've managed to collect 12 in pretty nice condition. Someday I'll serve tea with all of them together . . . maybe I'll serve the tea in the barn!:)
