The Pumpkin

"Through orange-leaves shining
the broad spheres of gold;
Yet with dearer delight from his
home in the North.
On the fields of his harvest the
Yankee looks forth,
Where crook-necks are coiling
and yellow fruit shines,
And the sun. . .melts
down on the vines."

John Greenleaf Whittier
"The Pumpkin"

  2. I like this quote, especially coming from John Greenleaf Whittier. The city of Whittier in California was named after him and I do believe he was a Quaker.
