"Through orange-leaves shining
the broad spheres of gold;
Yet with dearer delight from his
home in the North.
On the fields of his harvest the
Yankee looks forth,
Where crook-necks are coiling
and yellow fruit shines,
And the sun. . .melts
down on the vines."
John Greenleaf Whittier
"The Pumpkin"
Nice photo collage, La Tea Dah. Nice words, too. Nice, you! Susan
ReplyDeleteI like this quote, especially coming from John Greenleaf Whittier. The city of Whittier in California was named after him and I do believe he was a Quaker.
